Sift — Support

Something not working? Write to us.

Email info@renobytes.com and describe what happened. Telling us which iPhone and which iOS version you are on saves a round trip.

Sift is still indexing, and it is taking a while

The first pass reads every screenshot you own, which on a large library genuinely takes time. It pauses when your iPhone is hot or low on battery and picks up again afterwards, so leaving it plugged in and locked is the fastest route. After that first pass, Sift only looks at screenshots it has not seen before.

My inbox is empty but I have thousands of screenshots

That is deliberate. Everything taken before you installed Sift is treated as backlog: it is indexed and fully searchable straight away, but it does not queue up in your inbox, because an inbox holding ten thousand old items is just the same pile with a new name. Work through the backlog whenever you like from the card on the inbox screen.

Sift cannot see all my screenshots

If you granted access to selected photos only, Sift will say so plainly and offer to widen the selection. You can also change it in Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → Sift.

Will Sift delete my photos?

No. Sift can suggest screenshots that look finished with, but confirming a suggestion only removes the record from Sift's own index. Your photos are never touched in the Photos app.

Does Sift work offline?

Entirely. Sift makes no network requests at all. Searching works in aeroplane mode, and nothing you screenshot is ever uploaded.

Something looks wrong in what Sift read

Text recognition is not perfect, especially on low-contrast or unusual layouts. If Sift consistently misreads a kind of screenshot, send us an example — that is exactly how the recognition gets better.
